Lactation Consultant in Stony Plain | Sarah Lang LPN, IBCLC
Why I Entered the Profession
Working in women's health has always been a passion of mine, even before becoming a nurse. I have always been surrounded by moms and babies, whether through family or friends, and I saw the gaps in care that many women experience. I wanted to provide newborn and maternal care that is rooted in evidence-based practice while helping build confidence in the families I support.
Infant feeding became a particular passion of mine once I began working in women's health. I witnessed the lengths parents would go to in order to access support, have their concerns heard, and find resources that were truly helpful and aligned with their goals and experiences. My goal is to provide non-judgmental feeding support that feels attainable, proactive, and empowering.
I love ensuring that my clients not only receive exceptional care and support but also enjoy the time we spend together during their visit. The postpartum period can feel incredibly isolating, and I believe that providing friendly, approachable support helps parents feel more comfortable, relaxed, and confident. Sometimes, simply having a conversation with someone who understands can make all the difference.
Treatment Philosophy
My focus is to provide evidence-based, informed, and compassionate care that helps parents feel confident and empowered in their infant feeding decisions. I strive to work collaboratively with each family, recognizing that confidence grows when parents feel heard, supported, and equipped with practical solutions. My care is guided by each family's unique goals, values, and lived experiences.
When I'm Not at Work
When I'm not at work, I enjoy a good thrifting adventure, creating not-so-perfect masterpieces with my sewing machine, diving into a good book, and getting my hands dirty in the garden. My husband and I also make it a priority to visit Vancouver Island each year, where we enjoy catching some waves and relaxing by the ocean.
